Your email, and what we do with it
We're an ice cream stand, not a marketing company. This page is short because there isn't much to tell.
The whole thing, in one paragraph.
If you give us your email address, we use it to tell you when we open for the season. That is roughly one email a year. We do not send anything else, we never sell the list or pass it to advertisers, and you can be taken off it by asking. The only people who can open it are the shop and the person who maintains this website.
What we collect
Only an email address, and only if you type one into the form yourself. Nothing is collected from you just for reading this site.
We store the address, the date you gave it to us, and a note that it came from the website. That's all three pieces.
What we use it for
One thing: telling you when the stand opens for the season. It goes out about a week beforehand so you can plan around it. We're seasonal, so opening day is genuinely news, and it's the only thing we think is worth your inbox.
We will not use it for promotions, offers, newsletters, birthday coupons, or anything else. If we ever wanted to, we'd ask you first rather than assume.
Who else sees it
We don't sell the list, rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. Nobody buys their way onto it, and no marketing company gets a copy.
Two people can actually open it: the shop, and the person who builds and looks after this website. That access exists so the signup keeps working, the one email a year actually goes out, and anyone who asks to come off the list can be removed. It isn't used for anything else, and the list isn't theirs to use.
Two companies handle it along the way, because the site has to run on something. The addresses are stored in Google Firebase, and the annual email is sent through Resend, which necessarily receives the address in order to deliver it. Neither is permitted to use the list for their own purposes.
The list is also deliberately locked so it cannot be read from the website itself — addresses can go in, but nothing can be pulled back out over the internet. Getting at it requires signing in to the account that holds it.
Getting off the list
Email Charliesicecream78@gmail.com and say so, or call 412-376-2735. No form to fill out, no reason needed. Every email we send has a way to unsubscribe as well.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies, has no advertising, and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. There's nothing here following you around.
A few things do load from elsewhere, so it's fair to name them. The temperature on the front page comes from Open-Meteo, and the page also asks the National Weather Service whether there's a storm warning out, so it can stop cheerfully talking about the weather when there is. Both are asked about Monroeville, not about you, and nothing about you is sent to either. The site is hosted on Google Firebase, which keeps standard server logs the way every web host does.
If you add this site to your phone's home screen, it saves a copy of the menu on your own device so it still works without a signal. That copy stays on your phone and isn't sent anywhere.
Children
We sell ice cream, so plenty of our customers are kids — but the email form is meant for grown-ups, and we don't knowingly collect addresses from children under 13. If one ends up on the list, tell us and we'll remove it.
